Below is a summary of the Green Box Scheme

Please make sure that you put your Green Box out for collection by 8.00am on Tuesdays.  Collection times can vary.

The green box should be left where the pickup people can clearly see it from the road, but as close to the boundary of your property as possible.

Once emptied, please remove the box - leaving it outside is not only unsightly for the village, but the lids tend to get blown off.

For a small amount of recycling material there is a green basket - this holds 25 litres. These are about half the size of the boxes (55 litres) and have a fold up handle to make carrying it easier.

The following are items that can be disposed of via the Green Box (or basket):

PAPER
Newspaper, magazines, catalogues, directories, white paper and envelopes, small amounts of shredded paper and Yellow Pages.
NO card, brown paper or brown envelopes or coloured office paper.

Glass bottles and Jars
No broken glass or other types of glass; e.g. Pyrex, tumblers, window panes etc.

Cans
All food and drinks cans (please rinse out dirty cans)

Plastic Bottles
All types of plastic bottles are now collected. If it's not a bottle we cannot collect it, so do not put in other types of plastic such as clingfilm or yoghurt pots. To help the collectors please remember:

Tops off - these are made of different types of plastic and cannot be recycled.
Wash the bottles
Squash the bottles so that more can be fitted into the lorry.

Foil
Clean aluminium foil e.g. milk bottle tops, take-away food trays etc (please squash them all together so they take up less room)
NO silver plastic i.e. crisp packets (try the scrunch test - if it springs back, its not foil)

Textiles
All qualities of textiles and pairs of shoes. This includes clothes and other textiles such as old bed sheets and pillow cases. They must be clean and dry and put out in bags to prevent them from getting wet.
NO pillows, duvets or other stuffed items.

Spectacles

Car Batteries
Placed next to the box (take care in handling to avoid acid spills).

Engine Oil & Filters
In sealed containers (drain oil filters and wrap in plastic bags to avoid leaks).

Mobile Phones

Toner & Ink Cartridges
